Connecting With Others In A Dirty T-Shirt
You walk yourself into a nightclub and push through the thick crowd to the bar. Once there, you get a nice drink for yourself and finally turn to the hustle and bustle to check things out. Your gaze shifts through the multitude but stops briefly on an attractive face. You do a quick scan and catch sight of someone you may like. A quick look-over is all you spare, though, because there is absolutely nothing that stands out at you.
What could have made this situation different? If we look at it one more time and change one small detail, we could have drastically different results. What would happen if while you scanned the crowd and stopped at that attractive young person, you saw that they were wearing a dirty t-shirt with a dirty little joke on it that made your flush with excitement? You might have gone over and introduced yourself, right?
This revelation comes down to one simple fact: most of us have the opposite sex on the brain. This is something that is shared by each person you meet. Everyone has either had a relationship, wants to have a relationship, is thinking about a relationship, or just finished having a relationship. When these thoughts are shoved from the back of the brain to the front of the brain, we no longer have to worry about mincing around with the unimportant pretenses.
Why, oh why, do we have to live in terror of such a beautiful thing? Our relations are meant to be shared and enjoyed by people…not hidden away and kept in a secret place for no one to see. There are plenty of people out there who still see these things we do together as something terrible and secretive, but there are also many more out there who are progressive and understanding. The only way to reach these people is to advertise, advertise, and advertise.
Wearing a dirty t-shirt with a dirty message on it is a clear way to beam your open mindedness to the people around you. Finding these people is easy, once you get past that shield of self-awareness and insecurity you can make contact with these like-minded individuals. Once that happens, the conversation perks up and the dirty t-shirts come off.
