Dream Abundantly
“You see things; and you say, ‘Why?’ But I dream things that never were; and I say, ‘Why not?’” – George Bernard Shaw
Imagination and dreams have gone by the way side in our society. They are far more important than some of the knowledge and credentials we deem so required in today’s world.
Intellectually comprehending whatever we as individuals can is the cause of limitation on knowledge.
In this post we dive into both sleeping dreams and waking dreams. The true beauty behind dreams is that they have no boundaries like our thinking or our physical existence. Dreams can go where our limitations cannot.
People around the world place different meanings on dreams. Some believe dreams are mere images that cross your mind’s eye. Some believe that dreams are divine experiences. Others believe that dreams predict the future. The scientific community believes they are instances of chemical activity and nothing more. The theories about dreams are as endless as dreams themselves.
It is imperative to know which of these you believe.
This statement isn’t entirely accurate because no matter what is true for you these can all be true. The beauty about a dream is they can be anything you want.
Perception dictates our entire lives and dreams are a part of it. If your perception (belief) is that dream is a divine vision then all your dreams would be guides in your life whereas if you believed dreams to be just flashes of random images then dreams would simply be a slideshow for your amusement.
Contradicting views are great unless you accept one to be of absolute truth and the other absolute false. This cuts off all possibility that could have been given. Seeing dreams as only one thing or the other limits what we can truly gain from the entire dreaming experience. We might be closed to the possibility that a higher awareness or idea can come through a dream or we can lose site of the fact that even though dreams have guidance we still have choice in our lives.
The real gift you receive when being open to what a dream can be is gaining a choice. You cannot just see the possibilities in a world you aren’t living via your dreams but you ALSO get to make use of what it is you choose to make use of from that dream in your real life.
If the dream is a glimpse into another world how can we assume there are limitless possibilities?
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is famous for his dream. The world he envisioned in his dream was certainly not the reality he was living in. In fact, it is still being realized today. Dr. King didn’t let that stop him though. Instead, he saw his dream as a window into a new world without limitation and that world inspired him to act. His actions then began to mold reality into his dream.
Another famous example is Thomas Edison who dreamed of providing a commercially viable form of incandescent light. Certainly this was not present in the world around him. Yet, that dream inspired him to test thousands of theories in pursuit of a solution for creating the light bulb. Had he not been inspired by his dream, he would not have endured the “failures” he experienced and this world might be a lot different today.
Whether dreaming while asleep or awake is there a difference?
The fundamental difference is dreams that occur while we sleep are totally unfiltered expressions of our subconscious minds. Notice that sleeping dreams are oftentimes, much more vivid, have less of a base in what you believe to be possible, and are often a little more difficult to remember later in detail. This is because these dreams are not filtered by your limiting beliefs, so when we try to recall the dream, we are doing so through our conscious mind. It is our conscious mind that contains our limiting beliefs.
Have you ever had a dream while you were awake only to find yourself saying immediately after, “that could never happen for this reason or that reason, why am I wasting my time…”. When something we really want comes into mind we can often set aside our perceptions and limiting beliefs to that we can expand our imagination. We experience new ways of thinking and seeing our world once we let these limitations go. Has this happened to you?
Do not spend time in the downward spiral of the should have, could have, would have, IF scenarios that drain the very essence of life from you. Spending your thoughts on reasons your desire is unattainable is like drinking a little poison every day. Dreams are meant to inspire you so be sure to let them regardless of your conscious mind.
There is a beauty to life in how it assists us in bringing our dreams into reality. It may not always seem as though life is supporting you but if you stay true to your dream you will realize that even those most undesirable of situations is a stepping stone toward your dream. Step into your abundance and stay true to it as it will stay true to you!
The deeper you hold your vision and dream the more certain a path to achieving it will appear. This path may be a wolf in sheep’s clothing at times but it leads to the life of your dreams. It is in these seemingly undesirable situations that you create the stairs to that life so turn any doubt or negativity into gratitude. The obstacle you overcome become the stepping stone to your success.
When you dream big, there is one other detour you are likely to face. Just as reaching for your dreams will require you to reach well outside of your comfort zone, it will also require those closest to you to reach outside of their comfort zone as well. Since it is not their dream, you may find them unwilling to do so but they will never tell you that. Instead they will try to tear your dream down. They will try to steal it from you under the guise of loving you. Don’t let them.
“Some thieves steal cars; others steal your dreams. If you have to let them take something, let them take your car. Your car will take you to the store and back but your dream will take you anywhere.” – Nick Bogatin
Small dreams give you small life. Abundant dreams give you abundant life. It’s that simple. Dream in abundance and dream for the biggest, best and most expanded life you can imagine. Live as if all things are possible for you.
Stay true to your deepest dreams and life will reward you by making your dreams a reality you experience everyday of your life.
