Children who are raised by parents that treat them with respect and love and display maturity for them to see will generally pick up these traits and use them as they grow. They learn as they grow their actions have lasting impacts on their future.
These formative teenage years that define a persons character and personality can sometimes predict what kind of grown individual they will be and whether or not they will be able to handle the pressures of everyday life as an adult. They may avoid their responsibilities, act out and make decisions that could impact their lives negatively for many years.
How seriously an individual takes their schooling is an indication of whether or not they are ready to strike out on their own after graduation. Some people make several false starts before they get it right and that is okay. People need to be able to develop at their own pace. It is not the grades that a parent should look at but the effort that their child puts into their work. If they are the type of child that rarely finishes all of their homework but still manages to bring home mostly As, they should be recognized for the effort they are putting into learning what they need to learn.
