Learning Good Time Management Practices
Time management is a funny thing. Just when something seems very important to get done, something else will come along that seems more important. Knowing how to learn good management of time is really more about prioritizing. Writing a list of what needs to get done in a certain amount of time, and then prioritizing what those items are will assist with getting everything done in a timely manner.
Learning to manage time can be effective both in business and personal life. All that is needed is to identify what it is that needs to be completed. This can be accomplished by writing a list and putting it in order of priorities. Once that has been done, then focusing on one thing at a time until the list is complete is all that needs to be focused on. This works especially well at home. This is because it is usually on a smaller scale of personal priorities, and you are the only one with the expectations. Work may be quite different.
Focusing on work may take more effort, depending on the need. But the same rules apply. Just identify what needs to be completed, write a list according to the priority and then focus on one thing at a time.
Working on larger projects such as parties or events will need more attention. Enlist those who will work well on a project like this, and then delegate jobs to each of them. Give them responsibilities among their own little groups and have them check in from time to time so that it continues to go smoothly with no last minute surprises.
Let them prioritize what needs to be completed based on the project that they are responsible for. Keep a list of the jobs that everyone is responsible for and have them report back to you when they are done. This will keep one person responsible for the entire event, but other responsible to the leader for their own jobs. This will keep everyone going forward without all the work stuck on one person’s back.
If a project is in progress and there is an issue with time, everyone who is working on that project needs to know what the restraints are. Make it clear when the jobs are expected to be completed and if there should be any issues or problems, have them contact the leader immediately.
The best way to meet the time requirements is to remain in control. Focusing on each issue, one at at time will keep everything on track. Don’t move on to the next thing on the list until the first one is completed. Losing focus and concentration is the quickest way to end up losing track of time and getting less accomplished then planned.
It really is pretty easy to manage your time. Just remember to write a list and prioritize it. Know what is the most important thing that needs to get done, and don’t move on until that is accomplished. Time Management skills will help anyone stay on track.
