The Easy Way to Get a Valuable Degree
Most people understand that earning a college degree can make a real difference to their careers and what they will earn. There is no doubt about it, a college degree can make a difference in your future. But what if you do not have time to go to college? Maybe you are already working a full time job or maybe you are a stay at home mom with small children and are therefore unable to attend a traditional school. Whatever your reason for being unable to attend regular on-campus classes, an online college may be the perfect answer for you.
Choosing an online college can be a challenge because there are hundreds of choices of online colleges and even a greater number of online degrees offered. Making an online college choice too quickly can result in a bad decision, so don’t be in too much of a hurry. If you want to be sure you do not waste your time and money, be sure to take your time and do your research. Call the admissions offices at the colleges you are considering and ask lots of questions. What degree programs do they offer? What about academic support services? How about accreditation? Is financial aid available? Do they have success placing their graduates in jobs? These are all important questions, questions that need answers. Just because someone has a website and claims to be a legitimate college or university doesn’t make it so. As a former U.S. President suggested, trust but verify.
Attending an online college has so many advantages. Setting your own schedule and being able to learn at your own pace is, of course, the most notable plus. Affordability is another big advantage. If you attend an online college you won’t be shelling out gas money shuttling back and forth to classes, and of course there are no parking, activity, or dorm fees to pay. You can actually work a full time job and go to college at the same time if you choose to earn your next credential online. There is almost no field today that you can’t enter or advance in via online education. You can earn an online degree in teaching, areas of the law such as a paralegal, health fields like dental assisting, nursing, and massage therapy, or more vocationally oriented subjects. And, you can earn almost every level of educational credential you wish online. If you left high school before graduating, you can start with a GED and continue until you earn a PhD.
The choice of classes when it comes to online learning is another factor in its favor. There are so many online degrees you can earn when you take classes online. From a two-year paralegal or massage therapist degree to a PhD in education or psychology, almost any degree you can imagine is available online. The options are endless. You can even take groups of courses in business, education, computer science and other subjects and earn an online certificate in just a few months.
One of the things you will want to keep in mind is that there are a few degree programs that will require traditional on-campus classes, an internship, or a practicum. Generally, they are programs in which hands on experience is needed to assure proficiency and/or meet state licensure requirements. Massage therapy, nursing, and psychology (at the graduate level) are a few possible examples. So, if you are unable to attend even a limited number of classes or complete an internship, be sure the program you choose will not require either.
The bottom line is that anyone who wants to continue their education can now do so.
