Vision Boards – Why 95% of Resolutions Fail Unnecessarily!
So many people make resolutions each year but a better idea would be if they started using vision boards to achieve their yearly goals instead.
Thousands of people from every country in the world make New Year’s resolutions each year, but did you know that within just a couple of weeks or so, as high a percentage as 95% of all those resolutions have been broken and dumped?
So what happens to all that good intent, desire, and wanting to reshape their lives into something better than the one they had the previous year? Funny enough, the ‘wanting a better life’ feeling is still there inside all those people, but they just took the wrong approach; they chose the negative aspect rather than the positive one. That’s how vision boards can help.
Usually most folks link a New Year with a brand new start in their life; the perfect time to get away from all the stuff you don’t like and make a change for the better. Hence all those resolutions. But have you really thought what a resolution is? What types of resolutions did you make? Was it ‘want to stop smoking’, ‘want to lose weight’ or ‘don’t want to…’ or similar?
Notice anything? They all have a negative aspect to them and all are taking you away from the ‘pleasure’ side of your life and leading you towards the ‘painful’ side of having to do something because it’s ‘good for you’, something you ‘must do’ – not because you really want to do it, or it’s enjoyable!
The main explanation why so many resolutions don’t succeed is easy to understand. When you tell yourself that you want to stop doing something, such as “I don’t want to smoke again” you have taken a negative view. You are not asking the Law of Attraction in the way to get the right response in return. The law of the Universe does not accept negatives, so negative words are completely dismissed; ‘don’t want to’ becomes ‘want to’ and The law of Attraction responds accordingly and keeps you smoking away.
The second reason why this resolution fails is because you are asking your subconscious mind to allow something to happen and it just won’t budge from the old habit of liking to smoke; the subconscious mind LOVES regular habit. It will not align itself with your conscious mind just because something is ‘good for you’.
Thirdly and probably the easiest reason to come to terms with is that you are telling yourself to stop doing one of the things you like to do; No one wants to stop doing what they like do they? That’s why that 95% of all those New Year’s resolutions fail within 2 weeks or so.
So how can you stop doing the things you know are bad for you? The answer is simple; you look at the ‘thing’ you want out of your life and you rethink it from a negative to a positive; from a ‘don’t like’ to a ‘like’, and that simple technique will work every time for you. Vision boards will do that for you.
Vision boards make sure that all your thoughts remain positive and upbeat, rather than being negative. Take the example of not wanting to smoke; you can make a positive statement about this quite simply by pinning up 2 or 3 images of athletes or your favoured sports stars and write out a big and positive affirmation to say ‘ I am healthy, fit and feeling great’. So if part of feeling healthy means no smoking then that’s how it has to be.
Your negative outlook has changed to a positive one just by using vision boards. Even better is that the positive thought is being drilled down into your subconscious mind more and more every time you look at those fitness images. Looking at the images and feeling good about them keeps you focused on your target for fitness and therefore means that you achieve your original intent of quitting smoking too.
